Abstract: The talk will address how the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence is reshaping work, knowledge, and societal systems, and will explore how we, as a global community, can thoughtfully navigate and co-evolve with these technologies.
Speaker's Bio: Associate Professor Dr. Rattasit Sukhahuta currently serves as Vice President for Digital Technology and Law at Chiang Mai University, where he concurrently holds an academic appointment as Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science. In his administrative capacity, he is instrumental in steering digital transformation initiatives within higher education, specifically focusing on developing and implementing robust legal and policy frameworks to govern emerging technologies - including the responsible adoption and governance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) - and to ensure regulatory compliance. He earned his Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of East Anglia, complemented by a master's degree from Hawaii Pacific University and a bachelor's degree from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Dr. Sukhahuta's research expertise encompasses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Software Engineering, Big Data analytics, and Data Warehouse architecture and design, with recent work applying AI and deep learning techniques to real-world challenges such as air-quality management, machine translation, and social-media analysis.
Dr. Sukhahuta served as President of the International Association for Convergence Science and Technology (IACST) from 2022-2023. He currently serves as President of the Thai Digital University Forum, a working group of more than 80 senior university leaders in Thailand. His leadership experience includes pivotal roles in advancing IT services and digital transformation within higher education institutions, notably as Deputy Director and subsequently Director of the Information Technology Service Center at Chiang Mai University.
Dr. Sukhahuta is actively engaged in national academic service, participating in program and organizing committees for prominent conferences across Thailand, and is a frequent reviewer for leading Thai academic journals and research funding bodies. His sustained dedication to academic rigor, digital innovation, and the crucial intersection of technology and law has established him as a distinguished leader in Thailand's ICT and higher education communities.
