Myojinmaru Obiyamachi is a lively restaurant located in the Obiyamachi shopping arcade in the heart of Kochi City, just a one-minute walk from the famous Hirome Market. It is the directly managed restaurant of Myojin Suisan, a fishing company that has been catching bonito by the traditional pole-and-line method out of Tosa-Saga Port since 1959, and the restaurant takes its name from the company's fishing boats, all called "Saga Myojin Maru." The signature dish is katsuo no tataki, bonito seared right in front of you over blazing rice-straw flames and served the authentic Tosa way with sun-dried salt, though the classic ponzu sauce is also available. You can also enjoy local Tosa dishes such as deep-fried moray eel and aosa seaweed tempura, along with sake from Kochi's breweries
